County Employees Celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage

Employees of the County of San Diego conducted its first annual celebration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage. The celebration included a three week long art display at the County Administration Center by various Asian and Pacific American artists, and a week long educational/cultural display and video presentations on various Asian countries.

The summit of this observance was on Friday, May 17, 1996. A food and cultural fair was conducted during the lunch period at the east plaza of the Administration Center. Net donation proceeds of $675 from this fair were donated to the County's Polinsky Children's Center for troubled and abused youths.

Additionally, three $50 U.S. Savings Bonds were given to three youngsters who were selected winners of a poster contest. The three children are from Linda Vista Elementary School. Their names are: Eh Vang Yang, 1st Grade; Dusty Xiong, 2nd Grade; and Washington Cha, 3rd Grade.
